(Alliance E-News Service) — Discover new civic engagement strategies and discuss pertinent, timely topics related to the field at the Alliance’s upcoming Civic Engagement Training Institute, to be held Sept. 20-22 in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn. The event is co-hosted by Alliance member Family & Children's Service in Minneapolis. The Neighborhood House at the Paul and Sheila Wellstone Center in St. Paul, Minn., is the site for the institute.
Participants will learn ready-to-implement methods for empowering the authentic voices of community residents and how to transform them into pioneering voices of influence.
This institute will address additional topics including:

how to incorporate civic engagement strategies into current organizational plans;

methods for closing racial gaps; and

how civic engagement leads to improved educational outcomes.
